He Wore Dark Glasses

He wore dark glasses and his face was turned slightly away but I know his eyes were on me.

And not because he found me attractive.

Sweet Eyes

The story is:

I was driving and saw four deer. Three wandered off and this sweet doe stuck around. I walked within twenty feet and she alternately posed posed for me and nibbled on the grass.

Maybe she knew that I was shooting with a Canon and not a cannon.

I know this makes no sense

People around the world will say "I beg your pardon? I don't understand." but . . .

This South Fort George Sanitary Sewer Manhole Cover is nowhere near South Fort George. It is kilometres away. East of Foothills.

I know. I know. Who cares?

How about this? It says "Sanitary Sewer" but it is over a creek that has been diverted underground. So there.

Frost!!!

I had to scrape the car windows this morning. Freakin' Frost! The berries have shrivelled and came close to dropping off.

The photo is from the the warmth of summer. And now . . . no more fun and games outdoors.

Well, as I remember, it is possible to have fun in the snow. With the right equipment.

Okay, here's the story . . .

I like to pack a novel in my car when I am out on an errand or off shooting. That way when I feel like it I just pull into a parking lot or stop at park and read. This time it is a parking lot. These two guys come along with their clubs like they are Slamming Sammy Snead and Ben Hogan out for a round of gravel golf.

That was a few days ago.

Well, today is a different parking lot and a different story. I am peacefully reading when a car comes roaring in with two girls who immediately break out the crack pipe and spark up. I sit trying to read but am too distracted and decide to leave. Turns out they are ready to leave as well. They roar away in front of me and I notice they are driving on a flat rear tire. And they are going fast.

That tire is going to be toast. It's going to mean fewer dollars for the next crack purchase.

I guess I should have shot their photo.

Yeah, I know. It's Spring in Australia.

Cold misty mornings. Reports of snow in the north.

I guess this is it. Time to admit that summer is over.

Bouquet of Roses for a Friend

I know it is early but I thought I would pick a bouquet of roses for Colette's birthday which is in a few days.

I picked them early because they have to ripen to improve the bouquet of the bouquet.

Please Hold Me

You cannot possibly know how sad this photograph without visiting the site where it was shot.

Yes, it is a doll and some child obviously once held it. Loved it. Lost it.

It is where it is lying. There is one cigarette butt visible but that is one of the least socially malignant things in the area. There are syringes (used), condoms (used), broken up pieces of electronic equipment probably stolen from some person without a lot of wealth because he or she cannot afford an alarm system.

Look at the doll. The sad eyes. The hopeful smile.

Was the doll stolen from that home or was the child at this spot and lost it here.

We need a way to ensure that needy people take without permission from those with too much and not those with too little.

I Was Stumped

I was trying to think of what photograph I should post. You see, this is about a lie. Or a fib. Whatever.

This happened yesterday. A little event and I was going to post a shot of it but, well, here is my story.

I saw a Conservation Officer on a little patch of greenbelt near some houses. It was easy to figure out what was happening. It was a bear hunt. There have been many bears in the city as there are every year. Several get executed.

I wandered up with my camera. There was a newspaper guy and a television guy also there.

The Conservation Officer asked what newspaper I was with. That is when I fibbed. Or lied. I said I was with an online news site. "Which one?" He probably thought I was a one of Meisner's 250 guys. "An Australian one." I said. "The Noonan News."

I don't know if he believed me but my big-ass camera are good credentials to get into many situations.

Anyway, I was going to post a shot of the dead bear but decided to let him have his dignity.

Save

I took a long walk along the river thinking how peaceful it is. Also thinking how nice it would be to strip off all my clothing and swim to Vancouver except I know the water temperature would prevent me from getting more than a toe wet.

Anyway, my thoughts were interrupted by the Student Saver and the Syringe.

Needless to say, I survived the river because I needed to rush home and post a blog.

Angie

Angie makes me laugh. That is all I can say except maybe that sometimes she feels like a daughter.

I stood on top of a mountain today and shot some pictures. After shooting a pile I looked at the dial of the camera and it twisted while taking it out of my camera bag. I haven't looked at any yet but I hope something comes out of it.

I was ready to take the big short-cut to the bottom of the mountain.

Slimy Things

No, the mushroom is not one of the slimy things. The problem was that I want to shoot the underbelly of the mushroom and to do that I had so lay down on my belly.

It is not the best part of town.

I had to make sure there were no used condoms on the ground before taking position.

It is always so happy. People laugh. People share. People go home. That is when the tears come.

Manami would kill me for posting a shot of her tears but she has gone home to Japan so that would be problematic.

Childhood Blues

God, it must be nice to be a child. Maybe I should be looking forward to my approaching 2nd childhood. The freedom to walk about and step into whatever you damn well please.
