I love the visuals of musicians. This guy was good even with the Neil Young Hair going.

Damsel

How can you look at ice floes flowing down a river and not think of Lillian Gish?

Okay, maybe you don't remember the movie Way Down East with delicate damsel in distress, fainting on an ice floe as it moved down the river with her hand trailing in the frigid water. Delicate, my sweet patootie. There were no stunt people replacing the star. No trick photography and computer generated graphics.

As IMDB says "
The scenes on the ice flows were not only very dangerous to film, but for at least for Lillian Gish, they had lasting ill effects. Until the day she died, her right hand was somewhat impaired, due to the extended filming where her hand was in the icy water."

Bottling Day at the Chateau

It may not be Chateau Thames Embankment but I am sure it is going to taste just fine. Eventually.

Missed it by that much.

Went for a short walk this afternoon. I wanted to get so snowy hill pictures but . . . I missed the sun by moments. I could see it then by the time I got to where I was going it had slumped behind the hill.

Tomorrow.

2121

I know, I know. I have nothing to complain about. My desktop computer has decided that it no longer wants to compute. The mother-board has decided that motherhood is no longer for it. It refuses to participate in any further action.

The thing is, I have a notebook computer. Two computers for one person? Yeah, a bit excessive but I like this notebook to travel and like the desktop to work. Now I have to work on this.

Poor me.

A Dusting of Snow

Undeveloped Twin

It was not just the interesting bands in the bark that attracted me to this tree, it is the fact that it is two trees. One within the other. The larger has enveloped and smothered the smaller.

The smaller is no longer alive.

Dedicated to Phil

After reading Lynne's Somewhat Invented Life and the story of the Chair Fairy, I thought I would slip this old shot in here.

Phil might have a mate to this chair in his garage.

Sweet Enveloping Fog

Don't you just love walking in the mist? That innocuous mist that shrouds the world.

Wait a minute. There is no such thing as
innocuous mist in this town. Au contraire, mes amis. It is quite nocuous and noxious. Baleful and baneful. Deleterious and detrimental to life. It is perniciously antipnea.

BINGO!!

What is wrong with people? I mean seriously. Do we have some sort of predisposition to soil our homes?

It doesn't seem to matter where you walk, there is crap. And the most bizarre crap. I mean, how does some one get out into the middle nowhere and suddenly run out of ink in the old Bingo Marker. Was there some mid-forest Bingo game underway with fabulous prizes?

Maybe there is a herd of feral Bingo players on the loose playing for old cigarette butts because all Bingo players seem to smoke.

Games

I always felt like I was the most inept kid in the world, when I was young. fortunately that is behind me. I have matured into an inept adult.

11th Hour

I went to the Armistice Day or Remembrance Day ceremony today.

It was bitterly cold. The wind just cut right through.

It is cold, I thought to myself. But as least I am not freezing in a trench knee-deep in mud and blood and gore and shit and piss and puke.

And tears.

After the Storm

This is a photograph that I shot because I couldn't get 'the other one.' I was going to shoot a beautifully decrepit (not unlike myself. Well, the decrepit part. No beauty here) building. I wanted a shot of the rusted door knob but the rain was pelting down.

I left and the rain stopped. I shot this and will return to 'the other one' later

Books & Company

This thought began with our resource-based economy in Prince George. I was thinking about stores that come and go. Our resource-based economy is in a spot of bother right now because the soaring Loonie (that is a Canadian Dollar to you un-Canadians) has risen in value over the past year, especially against the United Statesian Dollar.

At one time the Loonie was worth in 65 cent to 75 cent range of United Statesian money and now a Loonie will get you $1.10 United Statesian money. And it continues to rise.

Businesses are failing because United Statesian people can't afford to import our goods.

How does a small business like Books & Company continue to flourish? By giving people service. You go there and are treated like family. The book store includes Cafe Voltaire where you can look at books and have a spot of lunch.

The owner also gives an incredibly to the community. A great supporter of the arts.

I don't think he gives for the monetary gain that he will receive from grateful citizens. He just gives.

Never see Costco or Walmart do that.

I have rambled enough.

Legging It

I was out for a stroll and saw this little guy doing the same thing. Most of the snow here has melted away but this guy found a little that remained. He is just lacking a toboggan.

My Baby

November 8th at 9:37 a.m., Ben will be 27 years old.

It is always so nice to look back and see him with his Burt and Ernie slippers, thumb in his mouth, and reading a book.

He has read more than should be humanly possible.

Happy Birthday, Ben. I love you.

One final Nude in Snow before I move onto other things. The streaks are wet snow flakes plummeting to the earth.

I was going to do a nude self portrait laying in the snow but saw these rose petals and thought they would be a better subject.

Blooming Snow

Snow fell from the sky today. The roads are very slippery. Sirens abound. Car accidents.

On the upside, I got to get on my hands and knees and shoot this bit of pink.
