Is there a reason why all creatures are born with disproportionately large eyes?

ah....now here's a happy camper.
maybe young creatures have large eyes so big beings will take care of them....research has shown that at least with humans we deem faces more attractive with larger eyes? I know this isn't the reason, but, I felt compelled to offer some lame-brain explanation.
