I feel like, if you live long enough, when you encounter an obstacle you don't avoid it. You encompass it. The world's troubles become your troubles.

The Increasing Cost of Killing Yourself

It used to cost less to kill yourself. 79 cents for a pack of smokes in 1976.

February 14th and We All Know What That Is . . .

You are so right. It is the 113th anniversary of the original opening of The Importance of Being Earnest on stage in London.

The photograph is from a production I directed in 2004.

On the table is a little urn. That urn has been in every play that I have directed since 1989.

Spirit of the West

The band Spirit of the West was in concert. OK, not their biggest concert but they had fun. There were about 15 people in the audience and I got to shoot photos.

The drummer didn't feel like lugging his drum kit in so he improvised on a stool. Yes, indeed, a stool with a microphone beside it.

The reason I have this shot here is because of the joke of the day. Someone said they should record a little bit of it. You know sample the music.

Yes, a stool sample.

At Night The Ghosts Come Out to Dance

After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down.
After midnight, we're gonna chug-a-lug and shout.
We're gonna stimulate some action;
We're gonna get some satisfaction.
We're gonna find out what it is all about.
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down.
