A Photoblog of Michael Rawluk's Journey through life.
Here is another shot of Public Art in a local park.
The challange was shooting something that was quite high and not look like Iwas shootingup. Backed away with the old telephoto and muttered a short incantation in the low light of the forest.

I got to say I like it...I know I know it is a live living tree. But I like it!
Michael, me gusta la textura que has conseguido aqui. Es un arte interesante sobre el árbol. Lo extraño es que perdure !!
Michael, I like the texture that you have obtained aqui. It is an interesting art on the tree. The stranger is that he lasts!
straight for a fairy tail :) nice:)
Very nice, you are a good photographer. I have seen your blogg and it is very intense, good work, a long work.
this is absolutely a cool art ! im glad it has been documented :-)
It's like you have a story to tell in every pic - I like that. This must have been cool to find :)
OK after many a coffee and sambucca I am getting to the point...your point. When is Art Art and when is it vandalism? I think these random works of art (it is all art even if it could be vandalism) are art to those who like it. For those who think it is ugly it is a blight to the senses or maybe a insult to a living organism.
Like all opinions they are soley based on the individual and their tastes, beliefs, fears, hopes, predjudices and what ever else is going through their minds.
So is the tree art good for the park? To me as long as it doesn't damage the trees I think it adds to the ambience, lord knows we have an abundance of trees and boring landscape in this neck of the woods. I say bring on the art, the more the merrier...noonan where are you, PG needs your talent!
First of all, I reshot the photo and got a cleaner image. Better light. But what do you care since this is the one that was posted?
Second, part of the entire little demi-rant about art and graffiti that took place also concerned whether someone else then has the right to "improve" your public art.
I found another figure that is missing a nose. Whether it broke in creation or was later "improved" is not a question I can answer but it disturbed me.
This is really much better than the other example- which looks to be by the same artist? And I agree with Maarten there's the fairytale quality to it. I can well imagine the effect it could have on a young and imaginative mind. Ooh i feel all goosy thinking about it!
I won't add more fuel to the vandalism fire except to say that I don't regard this particular work to be grafitti, rather I'd call it subversive.
PS Thanks colette but unlike PG (who the hell's that?) I don't believe I can improve on nature
Original.
I liked finding these carvings. I found 7, I think, and it was an adventure. It was like an easter egg hunt.
