Looking at the World

Some people who are younger than I won't remember this but there was a time when if you wished to show a photograph to someone in another part of the world you had to spend a fortune in postage and hope the photograph arrived within a few weeks and in reasonably good condition.

I will post this shot in a few seconds and people in Asia or Africa or Europe or any of the other beautiful parts of the world can see it moments later.

Amazing.

I am afraid I am old enough to remember the "pre-web" era, too! I like it better now: in the old time, we might not have had the chance to exchange visits to our exhibitions.
Anyhow, this is a nice image, very moody!

Fortunately, this fence get a damage. Good DOF.

Good DOF, but the background could have been more interesting, the lesft part id too empty.
Perhaps more contrast would have improved this good idea.

Sorry for mistakes.

Nice shot I really like the DOF in this shot.

Great perspective and reminds me of the screens around my house that need fixing ! (yes we still use them!)

I disagree with the comments about the background...it suits the message that I am getting from the pictures; and that is that the house to which the torn flyscreen belongs is a little run down at the heel and perhaps emptier than it would like?
Whatever...I like the shot, it's unusual, leaves me (the viewer) wondering about how the tears got there.
I agree with your sentiments about the ability to show and therefore communicate with someone on the other side of the globe. we are all citizens of the planet and this is a nice way of meeting one another.

I am finding it quite stimulating to share with people all around the world. Sometimes I feel that we inward-looking that we forget that our actions affect people thousands of miles away.
Sharing photographs and words is a simple way to touch the world.
Geez, that sounds hokey.

Enjoyments of the dematerialization?

I remember a time, not so distant. We have to send images on floppy disks and more close still on CD-ROM, it was already revolutionary but the same problems settled...

So, a good image; ... perhaps, a fly on the wire netting and you would illustrate perfectly "a small treaty for teleportation". :)
