The Barber Shop
I finally had my hair whacked today. It was getting long and shaggy and some people might be ashamed to be seen in public with me.
But that is not the story.
The story is The Barber Shop. I was walking in a back alley and stumbled upon it yesterday. No advertising. No expensive signage. It is just there.
I went in and waited until my turn and when she was about to start I asked if she tool plastic because I never carry cash. She said no. Cash only. I said I would be back. Just going to run to the bank and of course she said no. Let's do the cut then pay me whenever you can get back.
Of course, I sprinted to the bank when she was finished.
That is the way to run a business. It got her a good tip. It got me a good hair cut.
How could I ever go anywhere else now?

Day Dreaming
A rowboat. A lunch basket with delicious food. Maybe sandwiches and strawberries. A thermos of coffee and maybe a bottle of Beaujolais.
And a companion.

Peacock
Colette Amelia wanted a shot of the peack feathers for the newly painted bathroom. She reused to do the Sally Rand Feather Dance.

Stitchin' Stuff
It used to be when people asked what I was doing I would say "Stuff." Maybe I should have said "Stitchin' Stuff."

The Most Amazing Photograph
And it isn't this one. I blogged with my best photo ever and it disappeared somewhere and so we are stuck with this one.

Peek-a-boo
Somebody had been cutting the trees down. I thought I knew who it was and set out to prove it.
I hid in the tall grass and patiently waited. The beaver had to make his move sooner or later.

Please Hold All Comments
I need my eye glasses to be like this window. Whatever you see through the glass is beautiful.
I need them when I look into a mirror.

Regional Security
"Don't show this to my boss." she said with a hearty laugh.
"He probably doesn't look at my blog." I said and chuckled quietly.

I Am A Braggart
I am trying to get over the inability to promote myself so I am going to brag.
This is a shot from an assignment, my first National Magazine assignment that will be published in the fall.
The best part is they sought me out. I didn't go knocking on their door.
This is one of the rejected shots.

You Would Cry Too
Even if you are a cedar, you would cry if you could see how the pine trees have died a painful screaming death at the jaws of the mountain pine beetle. Of course it is not the beetle's fault that Global Climate Change has caused their population to explode.
According to Now Public, the beetle has killed off "between 74,000-94,000 square kilometers of forest. To put this in perspective, the worst year of pine beetle infestation resulted in ~75% of all the trees killed and burned in BC between 1959-1999. You read correctly - that's one year compared with 40. Furthermore, it is more than 5 times greater than the annual carbon dioxide emissions from the automobiles and planes in all of Canada."
