Hoops
If you look closely, it is actually a self-portrait. I am so vain.
Shot at the music festival this weekend.

Kids Love the Blues
There was some incredible music last night.
And some cute kids. I think she wanted to give some popcorn to the band.

I got caught in our version of rush hour traffic. It is no big deal by other standards but I am not used to it. It took 15 minutes to go a couple of miles.
The photograph is of the rush hour I prefer.

Laughter
I had to post this shot just because Sun Yue makes me laugh. Just a look. A gesture. I laugh.
Add to that, she is smart, kind, and just an all around sweet young woman.

Does Size Matter?
Why are financial institutions into such large buildings? I mean they don't have any more money than the rest of us, do they?

Grateful
Do you think that a tiny plant can be grateful to a stump that nurses it into life providing nourishment and protection? I like to think it can be.
I am also grateful for things but don't always express it adequately.
- A talented and well-adjusted son who loves and is loved
- Good friends
- Peaceful solitude when I need it
- A ripe tomato

The Amazing Tyler D
How do people discover their talents in this world? Do you wake up one morning thinking "I am going to juggle while riding a unicycle?
This young man is an example of total showmanship and talent. And of course his mouth was running non-stop during the entire performance. "Arts Wells. Come to Arts Wells. Arts Wells. Arts Wells."
He was promoting Arts Wells Festival, The Farmers' Market, The Art Gallery, a local bookshop and never stopped moving or entertaining the awe-filled crowd.

Insensitive Little Friend
I was out for a stroll in the blazing heat when I saw this petal on the concrete sidewalk. I though 'that might be slightly interesting' and proceeded to focus.
Saw the ant.
"Clear off." I said. "I am trying to work here." He just stared at me and yelled "Piss off."
"Why you pissant little ant." I said. "You insensitive creep."
"You are insensitive to me." he screamed.
I realised that I was indeed a trifle insensitive. Eventually we struck a bargain. I shot his portrait and get to use it in this blog. He receives royalties on all future sales of the image.

When Does Art Become Graffiti ?
Some time ago I did a couple of posts "When Does Graffiti Become Art?"
This is the reverse. A piece of Art has been vandalised and basically destroyed.
It is a statue of Terry Fox. Who is Terry Fox?
Terry Fox was an athletic teenager who, when he was only 18 years old, was diagnosed with bone cancer and had his right leg amputated 15 centimetres (six inches) above the knee in 1977.
While in hospital, Terry was so overcome by the suffering of other cancer patients, many of them young children, that he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.
He would call his journey the Marathon of Hope.
Terry trained for 18 months and running over 5,000 kilometres (over 3,10 miles) to prepare.
Terry started his run in St. John’s, Newfoundland on April 12, 1980. It was difficult to get much attention in the beginning, enthusiasm soon grew, and the money collected along his route began to mount. He ran 42 kilometres (26 miles) a day through Canada's Atlantic provinces, Quebec and Ontario.
The Marathon of Hope was a journey that Canadians will never forgot.
Unfortunately, on September 1st, after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 miles), Terry was forced to take a break from his Marathon of Hope just outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario because cancer had appeared in his lungs. An entire nation was stunned and saddened. Terry passed away on June 28, 1981 at age 22. Canadians wept.
I said that Terry was forced to take a break from his Marathon of Hope because, although he was gone, his legacy was just beginning. Every September multitudes of Canadians pick up where he left off and continue the race for a day.
To date, more than $360 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research in Terry's name through the annual Terry Fox Run, held across Canada and around the world.
It will cost approximately $30,000 to replace the bronze statue which cannot be repaired.Posted by Unknown at 5:18 p.m. 1 comments

Just another day in the abattoir.
I am learning (slowly) that people don't always value a low price. Boost your price and some people think they are getting greater value for the same thing.

Third Eye Peeking
I am working on another mini-exhibition (thanks to the amazing Colette). This one is of musicians. Therefore . . . .
I like the eye peeking out of his shirt.

Stop and sniff the moss covered rocks
Sometimes I get stuck looking at the big picture in life and get totally overwhelmed with everything and nothing gets accomplished. I forget that it is so much easier to take the world in small bites. Things can get accomplished.
When faced with a mountain of work maybe just concentrate on one stone.

Artists
There are a lot of artists in the world. A lot. At a rough estimate I would day there are, well, a lot.
Each one is trying to get noticed by somebody. "Hey, look at me. I am doing something slightly different from everyone else."
Try being a stalk of grass.
