That stink machine probably means jobs for people, though.
We had a stink machine of the hightest proportions here ever since the second world war. A steel plant. When it finally closed I cheered until I realized that three men in our ward were now out of work and their families were hurting and did for a long time. Two families have never totally recovered.
What we need to do is figure out how to make the stink go away and keep the jobs.
and messing up a perfectly beautiful sky....not to mention the health effects for the children and older folks living down wind....but what lynn says is partly correct -- we do need to make stink go away and keep jobs, but we also MUST stop putting any toxic emissions into the atmosphere and water...
