Shrek 4

Once upon a time, I worked for BC Rail. BC Rail was then sold by our beloved provincial government to Canadian National Railway. I was sold with the rest of the asses and assets.

Anyway, I worked with a guy who reminded me of Shrek so when I found this toy near the railyard yesterday I immediately thought of him.

The Maze on Mars

There must be a sophisticated civilization on mars. Not only did they have those famous canals but they designed wonderful water mazes to be travelled by boat.

Splitting Headache

This is part of a Gitxsan pole at the ‘Ksan Historical Village and Museum which is at Hazelton. (Called Old Hazelton to differentiate itself from New Hazelton and South Hazelton.)

‘Ksan is a beautiful museum in a gorgeous setting.

Some People Deserve Our Pity

How would you like to be forced to look out your font window and see that?

Or go out onto you balcony and there is nowhere to look that is not covered in beauty.

Spent the weekend near Telkwa and that was the view. I pity them.

With a Smile on My Face

I am back from my excursion and in circulation so as soon as I get these allergies under control I will whip up some new photos to post.

*Hack*Cough*Sneeze*

And I will whip them up with a smile on my face.

Glorious Weather

Today was one of those days. Everything just seemed perfect.

Beautiful weather and company.

Tie Game

I was wandering the city's back alley's the other day and noticed this neck-tie knotted around a piece of wire sticking out of a wall.

I started thinking, this would make a good way to let people know you have been here. Leave a marker on a wall, a tree, a fire hydrant then when someone else comes along they know that Bruno or Emma or whoever has been there.

Wait a minute. That reminds me of something.

Halovich

There was a wee fire yesterday. Not much in the way of flames but there was lots of smoke. One fireman went to hospital with smoke inhalation.

Three Coins in the Fountain

Four actually. And they certainly are not coins.

Coins tossed in the public fountain are for other cities. What do we have here in Prince George? Syringes and cigarette butts.

Isn't that just so attractive?

Claws

Went to the 1860s Gold Mining town of Barkerville yesterday. On the way we saw many deer, a moose, and a couple of black bears.

This bear track shows the claws and you can see the imprint from the fur along the edges.

Thinking About Moving.

I have been thinking (that is a shot of me thinking with my 1920s Agfa-Ansco box camera).

What I have been thinking about is moving my blog. So I have started one at

What is your opinion of these sites. Both have their advantages.

Let me know what you think.

Canon Ft QL - 2

This is a shot with the Canon Ft that I featured yesterday.

This was shot in the early 80s, I believe. Iam too lazy to go search out the exact year.

Canon Ft QL

Sometimes I miss using my good old Canon Ft.

Riding the Wave

Spring.

It has finally arrived. The fresh colours. The warmth. The sneezes. The coughs. The scratchy eyes.

Let's hear it for spring.

UNBC

It was when I saw the person on the right that I decided to shoot this picture. It needed something to offset the symetry.

I was going to post more Randon Acts of Art but decided that one per week might be good.

Random Acts of Art

Here is another shot of Public Art in a local park.

The challange was shooting something that was quite high and not look like Iwas shootingup. Backed away with the old telephoto and muttered a short incantation in the low light of the forest.

Play Zone Begins

What is better than sitting in the sunshine on a warm day with a good book?

Not much.

Danger

The is a sign that is laying up-river from yesterdays shot.

I would have liked better angle but that would have meant standing in the river. In that case I would have needed a floatation device for my camera so that someone downstream could have posted the pictures.

Roiling Water

A huge boulder in a narrow canyon with turbulent water roaring.

This was where eight young men died 33 years ago today when they decided to canoe through this canyon.

Free Salmon With Every Lesson

This is a fishing boat. I dislike fish.

It is apparently also a Dance Studio. I can't dance.

That is all you really need to know about me.

Too Many Rides. Not Enough Walk.

Been one of those days. Some things that I should have done just didn't happen. Well, not yet.

Like go for a walk.

There is still time.

Start Your Engines

It is raining.

Rained all day.

This is the day to fire up the old REO Speed-wagon and hit the trail. Except I didn't. Some day this week I will go for a drive and park in some lonely secluded spot and shoot photographs.

If this weather lets up a bit.

Road Rapture

Two images today:
Okay, I admit it. I had a little case of Road Slightly Pissed Off today. Or Road Irritated. Nothing big just someone ran a stop sign in front of me and I felt like following but I just went home.

Why isn't it like the good old days when driving could be a moment of solitude?

Or if you are caught in a traffic jam, maybe a use the time to advantage an reflect upon your life.

Or use the time to work on your primal scream. But close your windows first.

The Bus

Thought it was time for another sign. A piece of public art.

Really.

What can I say about this except I like the smile.

Not Another Religious Image

No, it is not another image of the Virgin Mary appearing on the wall of a Tim Horton's Doughnut Shop (and I refuse to write Donut even though Tim Horton's has become corrupted enough to use that word). It is not an image of Jesus in a blood stain at centre ice during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

It is more artistic than religious.

To me it looks like some 19th century Montmartre artist who is so talented that he can sell no paintings. (He because it looks masculine to me).

Not the Sharpest Tool

I get the feeling there should be a pin in that hole. Of course this old plow is so rusted that it will never come apart anyway.

I guess I should not criticise something for being old.

Self-portrait

Yeah, I did a self portrait. I thought that I should hold a camera since that is what I do a lot (and it hides my face. Don't need to scare the world.)

I have a small camera collection and the one that I am holding is Pentax auto 110 System camera. It is an SLR that uses 110 film. There is a motor-drive, which I have attached, and several lenses and filters. My brother who lives in Fort Saint James gave it to me.

I haven't actually used the camera. I have film but when I went to get batteries I found the price to be a little steep for using one time. Maybe some day in the future.

My Story

My photo

I got my first camera, a Canon Ft QL, in 1974. It was supplemented by a Canon F1 in 1976 so that I could have a camera for black and white and one for colour.

I still have those beauties but now they have eased into retirement. They relax on my shelf beside many other old beauties.

Now I use a Canon 5D MK II. How convenient to use one camera for both colour and black and white.
